Biography

Recently, Dr. Farhan Alshahrani was assigned as the Head of KAUST Smart-Health Initiative to develop, manage and nurture strategic partnerships with potential partners in government, industry and academia.

Since joining KAUST end of 2012, Farhan embarked on several managerial positions such as Lab-Fit-Out Owner, Lab Design and Development Manager, Strategic Projects Manager, KAUST Research Park and Tenants Affairs Manager and lately the Head of Strategic Innovation Partnerships.

Before joining KAUST, Dr. Alshahrani worked for Saudi Aramco R&DC for 20 years where he published several scientific papers and filed 14 patents. In Feb. 2011, Farhan was assigned to manage Aramco R&D relations in KAUST and put the initial building blocks for constructing the Aramco Corporate R&DC at KAUST.

Dr. Farhan Alshahrani received his BSc and MSc in Industrial Chemistry from KFUPM and D.Phil. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Oxford.

Dr. Alshahrani is the Founding President and Chairman of the Board for the National Technology Transfer Network (NTTN) approved in Oct. 2021 by the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development as the first national association of practitioner and leaders in innovation and technology transfer.

Dr. Alshahrani is currently the VP of GPCA R&I Committee and Member of the National Innovation Strategy Taskforce led by the Ministry of Energy (MoE).
