Professor Setti, Dean of the CEMSE Division at KAUST, is a renowned scientist with international recognition and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has been serving as the Editor-in-Chief of the Proceedings of the IEEE since 2019, being the first non-US professional to hold this position.
During his tenure as the IEEE Vice President for Publication Services and Products, Setti prioritized ethical practices for using bibliometric indicators to assess individual scientists' research impact. He played an instrumental role in ensuring the financial operations aligned with the organization's mission. Furthermore, he actively addressed the implications of open access mandates on the IEEE community during his service on the board of directors.
Setti's research interests encompass a broad range of interdisciplinary areas that hold immense relevance to KAUST and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His pursuits include nonlinear circuits, statistical signal processing, electromagnetic compatibility, compressive sensing, biomedical circuits and systems, power electronics, design and implementation of IoT nodes, and machine learning techniques for anomaly detection and predictive maintenance. His extensive academic contributions comprise around 320 scientific articles published in journals, conference proceedings, and four books. Setti has received prestigious distinctions throughout his career, including best paper awards in multiple IEEE Transactions and significant conferences like ISCAS and DATE. Additionally, he received the 2013 IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) Meritorious Service Award and served as an IEEE CASS Distinguished Lecturer in 2004-2005 and 2015-2016.
