Recent strides in electrocardiogram (ECG) diagnosis have fuelled the need for smarter, wearable solutions. The latest research done in Prof. Atif Shamim’s group at KAUST unveils groundbreaking advancements in this field.
Introducing fully screen-printed, gentle-to-skin wet ECG electrodes integrated with scaled-down PCBs and 3D-printed antenna-on-packages (AoP), these electrodes significantly reduce metal and gel usage while extending wireless communication range. Plus, they demonstrate remarkable accuracy in recording ECG data, aligning closely with commercial systems.
Shamim’s study, validated by cardiology and family medicine experts, confirms their efficacy for both monitoring and diagnostic purposes. These innovations hold immense potential for clinical applications and can streamline mass production through screen-printing methods.
